Version 2.2

Device limits, now actually enforced

• Your license is now checked against a real device limit — every plan (including Team) allows 1 device today.
• New: Manage Devices — see the device currently using your license and free it up from Settings before activating on a new Mac.

Fixed

• Activating on a device already at its license's device limit now shows a clear message instead of a generic "invalid key" error.

Version 2.1

Highlights

• Subscriptions are now live — Personal, Pro, and Team plans can be purchased and activated for real. In 2.0 and earlier, license verification had no working backend behind it (the signing key was a placeholder), so a purchased license key couldn't actually be activated; that's now wired up end-to-end against the real billing backend.
• Manage Subscription now actually opens something — Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription opens a real Stripe Customer Portal session for updating payment details, viewing invoices, or cancelling. It previously pointed at a link that didn't go anywhere.
• Fixed an Ask Your Mac paywall gap — retrying a message after being asked to subscribe no longer bypasses the subscription check.

Known Limitations

Same as Version 2.0 below — nothing in this release changes those.

Highlights

• Settings screen fixed — the sidebar's Settings (the way most people reach it) was silently missing the Subscription, document-indexing, and crash-diagnostics sections entirely, only present in the separate menu-bar Settings. Both now show the same thing.
• Settings visually restyled to match every other screen's look — it was the one screen still using macOS's native system-styled appearance instead of Context Dock's own design.
• Contextual help on every screen — a small “?” next to each screen's title explains what it does and how to use it, on demand.

Version 1.0 — First Public Release

Context Dock remembers what you were doing on your Mac — the apps, files, git branches, terminal commands, and browser tabs behind your work — and lets you ask about it, with local AI as the default and cloud AI as an explicit opt-in.

Highlights

• Ask Your Mac — chat grounded in your own captured activity, with hybrid (keyword + vector) search over documents and every capture source.
• Six local capture sources — app activity, clipboard, file/folder watching, git repo state, terminal commands, and Safari browser tabs — every one off by default, toggled individually in Privacy Centre.
• Local AI, your choice of engine — Apple Intelligence, MLX (browse, download, and benchmark models from Hugging Face right in the app), Ollama, or your own Claude/OpenAI-compatible API key.
• Sessions timeline, automatic Checkpoints/Digests (sleep, scheduled, or calendar-triggered), Meeting capture with on-device transcription, Decisions and Workflows tracking.
• Automatic updates, signed and delivered by Sparkle, so future releases install with a click from inside the app.
• Plan comparison tiles — see exactly what's included and not included on Personal, Pro, and Team before subscribing, from the paywall or Settings → Subscription → View Plans.

Security & Privacy

• Local-first: with Apple Intelligence or an MLX model, nothing you ask ever leaves your Mac.
• App Sandbox stays enabled, a deliberate defense-in-depth choice for a privacy-first app.
• A local secret detector excludes API keys, tokens, and credentials from capture entirely — never stores a redacted version, just skips the item.
• Cloud AI providers are opt-in, per-task, and off by default; API keys are write-only in Settings, stored in Keychain.
• Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarised by Apple — opens normally, no Gatekeeper warning. Updates are cryptographically verified before installation.

Known Limitations

Stated plainly, because you should know before you download:

• Signed and notarized for direct download; not distributed through the Mac App Store.
• Git repo scanning reads .git directly (no shell subprocess) and does not yet parse packed (post-git gc) commit objects — branch/commit metadata gracefully falls back to unavailable for those, rather than erroring.
• Browser tab tracking currently covers Safari only.
• Meeting recording requires explicit microphone and speech-recognition permission on first use; it's entirely opt-in per meeting, not automatic.
• This is a first release — if something doesn't work as expected, please reach out rather than assuming it's a known issue.
