Toi 'n' Moi® Context Dock
A privacy-first, local-AI work-memory app for your Mac — Read Me
Context Dock quietly remembers what you were doing — the apps, files, git branches, terminal commands, and browser tabs behind your work — and lets you ask your own Mac about it, entirely on-device by default.
Requirements
- macOS 15.0 or later, Apple Silicon recommended.
- For fully on-device AI: Apple Intelligence (macOS 26+) or a downloaded MLX model — both run locally, no server required.
- Ollama is an optional local-AI fallback for Macs without Apple Intelligence, or if you prefer running your own local models via Ollama's server.
- Cloud AI (Claude, or any OpenAI-compatible provider) is entirely optional, off by default, and only used for the specific data sources you explicitly allow.
Installation
- Download the
.dmgfrom the App Market. - Open it and drag Toi 'n' Moi® Context Dock onto the Applications folder shown beside it.
- Open it from Applications.
It will just open. The app is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple, so there is no “unidentified developer” warning and no right-click → Open workaround needed.
If macOS ever does warn you about this app, something is wrong — please don't work around it. Email us instead.
Getting Started
On first launch, Context Dock walks you through a short onboarding flow, then opens straight to your Home dashboard. Nothing is captured until you explicitly turn it on in Privacy Centre — the app starts in an opt-in, capture-nothing state, not the other way around.
The fastest way to see what it does: enable App activity tracking in Privacy Centre, work normally for a few minutes, then open Ask Your Mac and ask what you were doing.
Features Guide
Ask Your Mac
A chat interface grounded in your own captured context, with a clear “General AI” vs. “Strict Evidence” mode so you always know whether an answer is drawing on your Mac's real activity or just general model knowledge.
Sessions
An automatic timeline of your work, grouped by activity, showing the apps, folders, git branches, terminal commands, and browser pages involved — never raw command text or page content, only counts and summaries.
Privacy Centre
Per-source toggles (app activity, clipboard, file/folder watching, git scanning, terminal commands, browser tabs), plus Private Time and Clipboard Safe Mode modes, and a sensitive-app exclusion list. Every capture source is off by default.
Secret redaction
Clipboard, terminal, and browser capture run through a local pattern detector for API keys, tokens, and credentials before anything is stored; a detected secret excludes the whole item rather than storing a redacted version.
Document search
Point Context Dock at folders of your own documents and it indexes and embeds them locally for retrieval-augmented answers.
Checkpoints & Digests
Automatic “what was I doing” summaries triggered by sleep, a scheduled time, or an upcoming calendar event.
Meeting capture
Optional, permission-gated audio recording and on-device transcription for meetings you choose to record. No audio or transcript ever leaves your Mac.
Model Manager
Browse, download, and benchmark local MLX models directly from Hugging Face, or connect Ollama, Apple Intelligence, or your own cloud API keys.
Decisions & Workflows
Lightweight tracking for decisions you've made and recurring workflows Context Dock notices in how you work.
Subscription Plans
Every plan includes the full local-AI feature set. Nothing major is locked behind a higher tier — plans differ in device count, automation depth, and team features.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | £9.99 | £79.99 | Individual professionals, 1 Mac |
| Pro | £14.99 | £119.99 | Developers, founders, power users — 3 Macs, advanced automations, larger model library |
| Team | £19.99/user | £179.99/user | Agencies and teams — admin controls, shared policies, license management |
Browse and compare the full feature breakdown for each plan right in the app — open Settings → Subscription → View Plans.
Privacy & Security
- Local-first by design. With Apple Intelligence or an MLX model, nothing you ask leaves your Mac. Ollama is a local server on your own machine. Cloud AI is opt-in, per-task, and off by default.
- App Sandbox stays enabled, even though this app is distributed outside the Mac App Store — a deliberate defense-in-depth choice, not a requirement either channel imposes.
- Secrets are excluded, not redacted-and-stored. If a detector flags an API key, token, or credential in something about to be captured, that item is dropped entirely rather than partially stored.
- API keys are write-only. Cloud provider keys are typed into Settings, stored in macOS Keychain, and never displayed again — only a “Configured” indicator.
