Mac Cleaner is a native macOS app for cleaning, security, and maintenance — Smart Scan, duplicate file and photo cleanup, malware and vulnerability checks, a real per-app permission auditor, storage organisation, scheduled maintenance, and more. Distributed directly, outside the Mac App Store.
Requirements
- macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later
- Apple Silicon or Intel — every feature runs natively on both.
- No account required to use the app in Free mode; an internet connection is only needed for subscription checkout, checking for app updates, and refreshing your subscription entitlement.
Installation
- Download MacCleanerApp.dmg from the App Market page.
- Open the downloaded
.dmgfile. - Drag Toi 'n' Moi® Mac Cleaner into your Applications folder.
- Open Mac Cleaner from Applications, Launchpad, or Spotlight.
Mac Cleaner is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally the first time — no "unidentified developer" workaround needed.
Getting Started
- On first launch, run Smart Scan from the Dashboard — it scans every category at once and shows what it found before anything is touched.
- Review results per category, select what you want removed, and confirm — nothing is deleted without your explicit selection. Anything above the safest risk tier is quarantined first, not permanently deleted, so it can be restored from the Quarantine screen if needed.
- A 7-day free trial starts automatically — no card required, full scan available, up to 500 MB of free cleanup.
- For the Permission Auditor and the full Privacy Cleaner, grant Full Disk Access when prompted (or ahead of time via System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access, enabling Mac Cleaner).

Smart Scan
Runs every cleanup category at once with a single aggregate, real progress bar — cancellable mid-scan.
System Junk, Trash / Bin, Large & Old Files, Downloads, Developer Junk
Per-app caches and logs, Trash contents, large or old files across your Documents/Desktop/Pictures/Movies, your Downloads folder, and developer tool caches (Xcode DerivedData, npm/Homebrew/Cargo/Go caches — only the tools actually installed on your Mac are ever shown).
Duplicate Files / Duplicate Photos
Finds exact and similar duplicates (including burst-shot photo groups, with blur-aware "keep the sharpest" selection), with a recommended copy to keep always protected — Mac Cleaner never lets you remove every copy in a group.
App Leftovers / Uninstaller
Uninstall an app and find the support files, caches, and preferences it left behind after a drag-to-Trash removal.
Malware Scan / Vulnerability Check
Heuristic checks for suspicious startup items and hidden executables, plus a real security dashboard — Gatekeeper, FileVault, Firewall, XProtect, app signing/notarization status, SSH key and shell startup file permissions, and available macOS updates. This is a maintenance-focused scanner, not a signature-based antivirus replacement.
Permissions (App Permission Auditor)
A real, per-app dashboard of which installed apps have access to Accessibility, Screen Recording, Full Disk Access, Camera, Microphone, Contacts, Calendar, Photos, Files & Folders, Automation, and Input Monitoring — with a transparent risk score, an unknown-developer warning, and an exportable report. Needs Full Disk Access.
Privacy Traces
Clears QuickLook thumbnail cache, browser caches, Safari browsing history and cookies, and Recent Items (Recent Documents, Recent Applications, Recent Servers, and each app's own recent-file list) — never your Finder sidebar Favorites. The Safari/Recent-Items part needs Full Disk Access.
Startup Items
Shows every login item, LaunchAgent, and LaunchDaemon, with the ability to enable or disable user-manageable ones.
File Organiser / Smart Archive / Storage Map
Automatically sorts loose files by type, date, or a screenshot/document/archive split (preview before anything moves); archives old project folders to a compressed, restorable ZIP; and a real interactive treemap of what's using your disk space.
App Updater
Checks your installed apps against a maintained update catalog and shows what's out of date, with a link to the developer's site. Detection only — it never downloads or installs anything automatically.
Scheduler
Automatic daily/weekly/monthly scans, plus triggers on low disk space, login, and external drive attach. Runs while Mac Cleaner is open.
Reports
Export a Storage, Security, Malware Scan, Permission Audit, or combined Maintenance Rollup report as PDF, HTML, Markdown, CSV, or JSON.
Quarantine
Every above-safest-tier removal goes here first — review and restore, or confirm permanent deletion, at any time.

Free mode after the trial keeps the storage dashboard, unlimited scanning and preview, and manual duplicate preview, with a 500 MB cumulative cleanup cap and no scheduled tasks or app-update automation.

Privacy & Security
- Every scan and cleanup runs locally on your Mac — nothing is uploaded.
- Subscription entitlement is a short-lived, Ed25519-signed token stored only in your Mac's Keychain, refreshed periodically, with a 14-day offline grace period.
- Above-safest-tier removals are quarantined, never permanently deleted, until you confirm.
- Every cleanup, quarantine, restore, security, and entitlement action is logged to a local audit trail.
- Protected system paths, your Photos Library internals, and Mail/cloud sync folder internals are never offered for deletion.
